Shoalwater Bennet's passive house development in Rosslare, Co Wexford, won the first prize of 10,000 at the inaugural Isover Energy Efficiency Awards in Dublin.
The project was achieved by the interpretation and adoption of existing European technologies to suit an Irish marketplace and environment. The main challenges were creating modest Irish style residential homes to a Certified PASSIVE standard.
The development, which used Isover Metac Insulation, achieved a specific space heat demand 10kWh/m2.yr and specific primary energy demand of 83kWh/m2.yr and Air tightness of 0.53m3 /h.m2. The cost of the build was at €12.00 per square foot.
See our Case Studies section for full details on this project.
