ISOVER’s insulation was recently used in the construction of the first timber kit house in Ireland. ISOVER materials were used for the suspended timber floor insulation. ISOVER Metac insulation was installed between joists and breather membrane. As well as this, the poorly insulated central heating pipework that was in the underfloor void was absorbed into the insulated build-up of the floor to reduce any heat losses.
The bungalow, purchased by Ken and Patrice Brennan, dates back to 1895 and was imported into Ireland from either America or Scandinavia. The house is located along the Dundalk-Newry railway line, and is raised about 700 meters from the ground, with a timber suspended floor.
The house required work from a conservation architect who worked with the homeowners to restore the Victorian Railway house.
