‘Grangelough’, a development of passive houses in Rosslare, Co. Wexford, a project by Michael Bennett & Sons and Shoalwater Timber Frame, is a one of Irish design and manufacture.
The project was achieved by the interpretation and adoption of existing European technologies to suit an Irish marketplace and environment. The main challenges were creating modest Irish style residential homes to a Certified PASSIVE standard.
The development, which used Isover Metac Insulation, achieved a specific space heat demand 10kWh/m2.yr and specific primary energy demand of 83kWh/m2.yr and Air tightness of 0.53m3 /h.m2. The cost of the build was at €12.00 per square foot.
